Rather than illustrating the stories literally, the editorial borrows recognizable ideas from Rapunzel, Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, and The Emperor’s New Clothes and places them in unexpected modern settings. A fire escape becomes Rapunzel’s tower. A city rooftop becomes a stage for vanity and illusion. A shadowed alley transforms into the setting for a dangerous encounter, while an elegant white dress moves through Central Park like a present-day Cinderella.
