Collaboration is a key part of the fashion industry—creative relationships often lead to projects that open new directions for visual storytelling. Not Knitted by Grams grew from one of those connections. After discovering knitwear designer @zoechampionknitwear on Instagram, we decided to collaborate on a conceptual editorial featuring her distinctive knit dresses.
Zoe’s garments are highly unconventional, with sculptural textures and bold forms that challenge traditional expectations of knitwear. The goal of the shoot was to create imagery that allowed the pieces to feel both experimental and wearable within a fashion editorial context.
The series was photographed in studio using a large parabolic light source, combined with strong color gels and reflective materials to shape the mood of the images. The lighting added dramatic color and contrast, emphasizing the texture and dimensionality of the knit garments while maintaining a clean editorial composition.
Through expressive posing and carefully crafted lighting, the final images highlight the collaboration between designer and photographer while celebrating the creativity of contemporary fashion design.
