Shadows and Sand is an editorial portrait study exploring the interaction of light, texture, and the human form. Created in collaboration with Garrett from the men’s division at Major Models NYC, the project experiments with materials such as black sand and oil applied to the model’s skin to create dramatic surface textures under studio lighting.
The images were photographed against a dark background using strong directional lighting to emphasize contrast and detail. In the second part of the session, cookie filters were introduced to project patterned shadows onto the subject, shifting the mood of the portraits and adding a new layer of visual storytelling. The result is a series of images that move between stark sculptural studies and atmospheric fashion portraiture.
